Fernando Monteiro paints for Amer-Sil

Fernando MONTEIRO began his career in 1982 as a foreman at Amer Sil’s production plant in Luxembourg. As the head of the union delegation, he also enjoyed close contact with the management team. Fernando retired in 2020, after 38 years at Amer-Sil.

“Joining Amer-Sil was like becoming part of a family, with a strong sense of mutual support and a set-up led by people with our best interests at heart. The company believes in empowering its employees, giving them the support and respect they deserve. I will always cherish fond memories of the company. I always felt greatly appreciated for my work and valued as a human being,” says Fernando.

His memories of the company inspired him to produce a painting which now adorns the office of the Managing Director, Jan Peynsaert.

Fernando explains: “I have been very passionate about painting ever since my early childhood. I acquired my knowledge from reading about 70 books which helped me to understand and apply different artistic techniques in my free time. I got the inspiration for the painting from my work at Amer-Sil. It consists of three elements: sea, storm and sunshine. The goods are shipped to other continents by sea. The storm is a metaphor for the use of the products in a battery that is subject to heavy currents. The sunshine opens up the way for the boats again.”
